No weaving experience is needed to learn the essential techniques of weaving. During this class with Michelle Follett, you will experience the entire process of weaving on a multi-shaft floor, starting with learning basic weaving terminology. Following an introduction discussion to color and balance, you will then design your textile - learning to calculate your fiber needs in the process - and then be guided through dressing and weaving on a floor loom. Beyond-beginners wanting a skill refresher will benefit, too. Students begin by attending an all-day class, and then continue learning during studio time, committing at least two hours each week for up to 7 additional weeks, to accommodate busy schedules and varying learning styles. All inclusive fee of $175.00 per participant covers equipment, accessories and fibers, and a maximum of 6 participants enables an instructor-attentive experience for new learners. The class starts with learning weaving terminology, and the weaving process unique to the loom type selected. Subsequent sessions then guide the learner through each step of dressing a loom and weaving on it. Beyond-beginners wanting a skill refresher will benefit, too. Students begin by attending an all-day class, and then continue learning during studio time, committing at least two hours each week for up to 5 additional weeks, to accommodate busy schedules and varying learning styles. All inclusive fee of $250.00 ($200.00 if you bring your own loom) covers equipment, accessories and fibers. Registration required. Friday through Monday preferred for class start dates.
